Frequently Asked Questions

Confirmed cons on the calendar: AniEx 2026 (Oct 11, 2026, Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal (Level M)); gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show (Oct 29 – Nov 1, 2026, QSNCC); MARUYA #47 (Nov 22, 2026, Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon); Anime Event Thailand 8: Christmas Time! The calendar at the top of this page counts down to the next one and drops cons automatically once they end.

Where can I buy anime merch in Bangkok?

Bangkok’s biggest anime merchandise hubs are Siam Square Soi 6 (multiple specialty shops), the Siam Center 4th-floor toy zone, Don Don Donki Thonglor (Japanese imports), and the BTS-adjacent stores at MBK Center. AFA Thailand, Japan Expo and MARUYA run massive temporary merch and artist-alley zones during the events themselves — most exclusives sell only on those weekends. Online: Animate Online and J-List ship to Thailand.

Are there cosplay meet-ups in Bangkok?

Yes, but they are dated events rather than a fixed weekly meet: ten-plus cosplay photo meets, contests and parties a year at Siam-area malls (MBK Center, Siamscape), The Mall Bangkhae, Mega Plaza and the Krung Thep Aphiwat central station, usually free or 150–200 THB. The Props&Ops calendar (propsops.com/event) lists them all; Cosplay Plus is the biggest recurring series and World Cosplay Summit Thailand holds its national prelims each April–May. Every con on the calendar above — AFA Thailand, Japan Expo, MARUYA, AniEx — has a cosplay floor. The cosplay section on this page lists the next dated ones.

Where do anime movies premiere in Bangkok?

Anime feature films get full theatrical releases in Bangkok: SF Cinema, Major Cineplex and EmCinema all screen subbed and dubbed (Thai) versions. Studio Ghibli releases (when in cinemas), the latest Demon Slayer / Jujutsu Kaisen / One Piece movies, and limited-run live-action adaptations get the biggest pushes — usually with themed merchandise drops at the same malls. Premiere weekend tickets sell out fastest at the Siam Paragon and ICONSIAM IMAX screens.

Is there a Studio Ghibli store in Bangkok?

There’s no permanent official Studio Ghibli store in Bangkok yet, but Studio Ghibli pop-ups land at Siam Paragon and ICONSIAM around major anniversaries and film releases (Ghibli Live at the Palace orchestral show was the most recent at Bangkok’s Sala Chalermkrung). Authorized merchandise is available at the Loft 2nd-floor shop in EmQuartier and the Animate Online store ships to Thailand.
